Georgia Adventures

We have made it the 3,000 miles from Seattle to Georgia (driving, that is) and are enjoying the lovely Southern weather, swimming, and relaxing.

We had some 4th of July fireworks. Peter was giddy with excitement and Charlotte has mastered the "ooh" and "aah" chorus required at fireworks displays.

Peter's 2nd birthday was a "Thomas Choo-choo" theme, so we went up to the North Georgia mountains for a scenic railway journey. Peter and Charlotte both loved it. A real "choo-choo"!

some prime "attitude" from both of the little travelers. . .

 . . . and three seconds later, so happy . . .

 "choo-choo"!

The train stopped in a little town on the Georgia/Tennessee border and we explored the little shops.

Charlotte got to crack her own geode.

 She doesn't mess around. She's a professional.

"train rides wear her out, y'all!"

Peter LOVED his cake, a Victoria Gerhardt original creation.

Peter also got some Thomas balloons, which were soooo exciting.

The cake was amazing, the singing/candles, well, a little less successful . . . catch video of it here.

"Did you have a happy birthday, Peter?"
"HAPPEEEY!"

More Adventures

We have been busy with lots of adventures lately. Here are some highlights:

Charlotte going camping up in the mountains with Brad:

She even got to ride a pony. "Tiny" the pony.

And she got to go canoeing . . . she was a BIG help paddling . . .

These were Charlotte's pictures from the trip:

(an anthill we found)

(pretty artistic, huh?)

Charlotte's "Abschiedsfeier" - end-of-year program - at her preschool. You can see a video of her class performing their adorable animal song here. Charlotte is a very enthusiastic wolf - you can see her part starting at about minute 2:30 of the video.

The weather right now is cool and rainy, but it really was very sunny last week, when Brad got done teaching and started summer.

Berry season - our favorite time of year - is also here. We picked some salmonberries and raspberries:

Charlotte and Peter also wanted to play doctor; their medicine was chocolate chips, which it looks like it was pretty hard to choke down for the patient. But the doctor had no trouble helping himself. . .

Humbug Mountain

For Memorial Day weekend we went down to Oregon for a camping trip - escaping the drizzle in Seattle. Not sure how they came up with the name, but it was beautiful, and Charlotte and Peter did pretty well. Charlotte did learn the phrase "are we there yet?" which is . . . awesome. . . but otherwise it was a lot of fun. They loved spending time with their aunt Katie and uncle Zach.

It was pretty windy, if you can tell by our makeshift "shelter" on the beach:

This was Peter's FAVORITE game. It is a little more tiring for the person carrying him than it is for him. . . . believe it or not . . .

This is Queen Charlotte ordering her subjects around.

Peter has learned to "smile" and say "cheese". Adorable. . .

Cape Blanco lighthouse. Beautiful. Also extremely windy.

Marienkaefer Charlotte found a friend on the beach. Everything was fine until it tried to crawl on Peter.

This is Peter cheering for himself. Pretty cute.
