Gas Works Park

We went for a glorious bike ride today. It was great to feel the sweet smell of fall and feel the wind on my face. We went to Gas Works Park in Seattle. It's an old industrial plant that was turned into a park. The view of the skyline and the bay was beautiful.
The beautiful skyline. (with a blurry spot right over the space needle...)

Charlotte just soaking it all in:)

We think this is the cathedral where we went to see the monks sing this summer with Katie. Also, a few "streets" of house boats. We could just get one of those and drop Brad off at school every day:)

Charlotte's pensive look. Actually she's probably chowing down on a tiny piece of apple because we were eating them and, of course, she wants whatever her parents are eating and squeals until she gets it.

Breaking out our helmets for our first ride because, hey, it's Seattle and that's what they do here. Safety first!

Being true northwesterners and baking some blackberry pie.

Beach!

We revisited our beloved DI thrift store today.
The Seattle one, of course. We found some great deals
as always. The beach has been calling for the last couple weeks, since we were sick and busy with moving, so we went back and it was great. We found lots of sea glass and shells and Charlotte loved holding a few rocks in each hand with her death grip (with her pacifier in!). We stopped by Dick's on the way back,
which was amazing. Cheap burgers and fries. Delicious!

Fall

I just love this cute little girl. She is growing up so fast. It was another sunny day in Washington, so we walked to Lake Washington today. It was a short walk, but beautiful. We are at such a great location here and there is so much to see and do. Charlotte just can't wait until she can play on the playground outside our apartment. Charlotte and I have started breaking out the Halloween and Fall decorations. I'm finding lots of new craft and sewing projects to keep me busy and Charlotte is always ready to help.

9 months

This little babe turned 9 months old. Crazy! She's starting to take a few steps. When she feels like it, of course, and not when we want to document it or get her to do it. That girl. She also thinks she's too big for baby food and only wants food she can feed herself. Have we reached the teenage years of babyhood?:)

Sick Day

Brad started stuff for school yesterday so Charlotte and I were on our own for most of the day. We shopped around U Village and visited the campus for lunch. It's beautiful here (still high 70s and sunny too).
Today Brad and Charlotte have colds, although maybe Charlotte is getting teeth, so we've been home all day.
It's been nice to finally move all our stuff into an apartment. We still have a few more boxes to empty and our pictures aren't up yet, but we're getting there and it's starting to feel more like home. Charlotte loves seeing all the little kids outside her window playing at the playground. We're looking forward to lots of new adventures!

Quilting, the beach, and a couch

I've been working on my first quilt this summer! It's really fun and I love how it's turned out. The pattern was inspired by this quilt and this tutorial. We're to the actual quilting stage which will probably take the longest.
I can't wait to see it when it's done.

Jellyfish on the beach.

Charlotte hanging out by the lighthouse at the beach

And last, but not least, our awesome couch! We went garage sale shopping this morning and found this beautiful couch for free! It was amazing. We just need to replace the foam in the cushions and we're set.
It's in great condition.

Shades

We're supposed to have eighty degree weather for the next couple of days and still no rain, so we thought we'd break out the shades and spend some time by the lake. Woohoo!

Summer

Our summer is quickly coming to an end, but we're not there yet! We're loving all the late summer fruit, campfires, hikes, quilting, and freedom. This is the life. Brad starts school at the end of the month and we were stressing out about housing, and an apartment on campus miraculously opened up, so we will be moving again in a couple weeks. We also found an amazing deal on a table and chairs at a local thrift shop, so things are definitely looking up. Now I just need to find the perfect job:)
I love those cute little boots:)
We've been canning like crazy.
Our lovely blackberry and peach trifle.
